On November 17, 2024, I had the honor of providing music and entertainment for Allison and Arlex’s unforgettable wedding at the Glen Island Harbor Club. This was a special celebration blending the vibrant traditions of Allison’s Chinese heritage and Arlex’s Nepali roots. From the very first time I spoke with them on the phone, nearly a year before the big day, I knew this wedding would be extraordinary.

Multicultural weddings are always a joy to be part of. The blend of customs, music, and traditions creates a unique energy, and this wedding was no exception.

Ceremony and Cocktail Hour

The day began in the chapel at Glen Island, where our pianist, Ronnie, played the grand piano during the ceremony. The ceremony was beautiful. Afterward, Ronnie moved downstairs for the cocktail hour, switching to his keyboard to keep the atmosphere lively and upbeat as guests mingled.

A Grand Celebration in the Ballroom

After the cocktail hour, over 300 guests made their way upstairs to the grand ballroom. The space was beautifully set up with sound, lighting, photo booth, percussion, and TV screens. Throughout the evening, the screens showcased over 450 photos of Allison and Arlex, capturing their lives and love story in a continuous slideshow.

The bride and groom’s grand entrance kicked off the party, setting the tone for an evening filled with joy and dancing. They did a choreographed first dance that impressed everyone there! The playlist was a mix of Chinese and Nepali music, and brought everyone together on the dance floor.

Special Moments

One highlight of the evening was the parent dances. While Allison and Arlex danced with their parents, a video montage played on the screens, featuring photos of their families and childhood memories. Most of the weddings I do, I only know the bride and groom for the year leading up to the wedding, so it is always interesting getting that glimpse into the past.

Another highlight was when one of Arlex’s friends, a professional singer with music on Apple Music, performed a song. He had the place rockin’!

A Party to Remember

From start to finish, the dance floor was packed. Guests from both cultures embraced the celebration, creating an electric atmosphere filled with love and unity.

Allison and Arlex’s wedding was truly a night to remember. At the end of the evening, Arlex’s uncle came over to me and placed a white scarf over my head. At the time, I didn’t know what it was, but I looked it up and learned it is called a khata, a ceremonial scarf in Nepali and Tibetan culture. The khata symbolizes purity, goodwill, and blessings and is often given as a gesture of respect and gratitude during weddings and other special occasions. I was honored and flattered ❤️

Here’s a video below showcasing some of the highlights from this amazing day!
