Last night, I had the pleasure of DJing a truly memorable wedding for an amazing couple—LeighAnn and Brett—at the stunning Ballyowen Golf Club in Hamburg, New Jersey, part of the Crystal Springs Resort. If you’ve never been, Ballyowen is described as “a Celtic-inspired links-style golf course offering panoramic mountain views and a touch of Ireland in New Jersey.” After experiencing it myself, I can say—it’s very very nice.
This was actually the third or fourth wedding I’ve done for this family, having DJ’d for the groom’s brother and sister in the past, as well as other close friends in attendance. It’s always special to be part of a celebration where you already feel like family.
The ceremony took place outdoors with the golf course in the distance and a pretty heavy breeze! We had a solo violinist providing music for the ceremony, which was perfect for this setting. I set up a microphone for the officiant—who happened to be the groom’s sister—a very cool personal touch that made the ceremony even more meaningful. Shout out to the five flower girls who were so cute!!
Following the ceremony, guests moved into the clubhouse, which features an inviting bar area and excellent catering. The vibe was upbeat and friends and I could tell everyone was genuinely excited for LeighAnn and Brett!
Dinner and dancing took place in the simple yet elegant ballroom, where we had a sleek black DJ booth and uplighting placed around the room to set the mood. From the intros and first dance to the many heartfelt speeches (there were quite a few!), the energy stayed high and the dance floor stayed full all night.
We wrapped up the evening with cake cutting, more dancing, and big smiles all around. Ballyowen’s staff did a wonderful job throughout the night, and I’m already looking forward to the next celebration at this beautiful venue.
